Instagram Introduces More Features for Your Privacy and Controls

Since the beginning of Instagram, It's trying to converge on addressing it as a comfortable place for everyone. In September, Instagram shared its commitment to keeping Instagram a positive place for self-expression. Instagram today introduces few more tools to keep people safe.

Comment Control Features

Today comments have transformed into a messenger, a place where the majority of conversation takes place on Instagram. While comments are largely positive, they’re sometimes not so kind. Earlier, Instagram enabled the ability to filter comments based on keywords. This was an essential step in it's users more control over comments experience. However, there are two more features Instagram introduces today to enhance this experience.
Instagram states on its blog that it will soon add a way to turn off comments on any post. There may be moments when you feel your posts don't require Comments. Earlier Instagram allowed it only for a small number of accounts. But now, it will soon be available for everyone. Tap “Advanced Settings” before you post and then select “Turn Off Commenting.” You can also tap the … menu any time after posting to turn commenting back on.

In the coming weeks, Instagram will also be adding the ability to like comments by tapping a heart icon next to any comment. Liking lets you exhibit support and encourages positivity throughout the community.

Ability to Remove Followers from Private Accounts

As on facebook, some people do want their Insta account to be private, which means they approve each follower. This is an important way for people to feel comfortable sharing with close friends and family. In the past, once you approved a follower, there was no simple way to undo without blocking them. After this feature, your account can be private, and you can remove followers by going to your list of followers and tapping the … menu next to any person’s name. The person will not be notified that you removed them from your follower.

Anonymous Reporting for Self-Injury Posts

Instagram want to be a place where people can share personal moments deeply. From time to time, you may see friends struggling and in need of support. If you believe that someone you care about may be thinking about hurting themselves, you can report it anonymously, and Instagram will connect your friend to organizations that offer help. Instagram declares on it's blog, it has teams working 24 hours a day, seven days a week, around the world to review these reports.
